How much do you reckon you can leg press? Well, check out this footage of strongman Eddie Hall lifting 1,000kg – he even passes out from the exertion. The video shows strongman Eddie doing back squats, before moving on to the leg press machine. He sets out his goal and warns us about what he’s preparing to try.
Speaking in the video, Hall says: “I’m going to go for 1,000 kilos, which is the heaviest I’ve ever done on this machine.”
That’s a ton, by the way. To put that into context, it’s equivalent to all these things, including, but not limited to:
- An adult male polar bear
- A saltwater crocodile
- A Great White shark
- The Liberty Bell
- 22 cubic feet of sand
Anyway, in the video, Hall starts to slowly put more weight on. He stops at one point to say: “I so*led meself. You smell it?”
But nothing can stop the Staffordshire native, who carries on, leg pressing his target weight after taking a quick bre*k to clean up after himself. He then suddenly goes quiet for a moment, his head dr*pp-ing to the side. A bit wo**yi!g? Nope, next he wakes up, casually asking: “Did I black out?”
It should go without saying, but we definitely don’t condone lifting weights so heavy that you pass out.
However, it’s not Eddie’s first time putting his health at ri!k for the sake of lifting weights. Back in 2016, The Beast – as he’s affectionately known – said he ‘almost d***’.
Then 28, Hall was the first man to life half a tonne at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. But immediately after, he collapsed, with blood vessels in his head b*rstin!g.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post at the time, he said: “That nearly k!ll!d me. The pressure on my body was surreal. I pass-ed out after. I had nose bleeds. It’s not healthy doing something like that.
“But I’ve done it. I’m sure it will be in the history books for a very long time.
“I don’t want to do it again but if it comes to the point where somebody breaks it, hell…I may just do.
“It’s that great feeling, Like the first man on the moon, the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. And now I’m the first to d-eadlift half a ton. It’s history and I’m very proud to be a part of it.”
Recently, Hall intensified his fierce rivalry with Hafthor Bjornsson, as he called his boxing debut the ‘biggest load of s**t’ that has happened in the sport.
Bjornsson, who is best known for playing Gregor Clegane (‘The Mountain’) in Game of Thrones, stepp-ed into the squared circle for the first time in January.
