A man paid his final child support payment to his ex-partner by du*ping 80,000 coins on her lawn. Avery Sandford, from Virginia in the US, says her dad drove to her mum’s house with a trailer full of coins and dropped them off on to the grass a few days after she turned 18.
The teen says her mum had no idea what was happening so ran out to confront her ex, who told her: “It’s your final child support payment,” before driving off.
Classy move… However, the two women have turned his somewhat childish a-ct into a positive by opting to donate all the money to a local charity.
Speaking to WTVR, Avery said: “I just turned 18. When I was in the middle of class, my dad came by. He had rented a trailer.
“He pulled up in front of the house and turned the trailer on so it dumped out all the pennies on the grass, and my mom came out and was like, ‘What are you du*ping in my yard?’
“She didn’t know who it was until he sh-out-ed, ‘It’s your final child support payment.'”
Avery admitted to being upset by the incident, adding: “It’s not just my mom he’s trying to e*bar*ass, it’s also me and my sister and it’s up!etting that he didn’t consider that before he did that.”
But she says her mum was able to turn it around and donated every single cent to a nearby domestic a**se centre called Safe Harbor.
The pair handed over $850 (£600) to the charity but when news of the i*cide*t spread, others reached out to hand over donations and it quickly grew to around $5,000 (£3,500).
A spokesperson from the charity told Huffington Post: “It’s just incredible. “A friend of theirs matched the exact amount and then other people started making donations in their honour.
“In the memo line, they’re saying they’re doing this in honour of Avery and her mom.”
The spokesperson added: “I think about Avery and her mother taking this really terrible and demeaning experience and turning it into something positive.
