Lil Wayne’s just been hit with federal unlawful equipment.cha-rge and could face serious pr!son time if conv!cted.
The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida has cha-rged the rapper with 1 count of possession of a f!rearm and ammun!tion by a conv!cted fe-lon. Weezy — who was conv!cted of a fel-ony g*n cha-rge in NY back in 2009 — faces up to 10 years in pr!son if conv!cted.
The cha-rge is for a December 2019 incident where federal agents searched Wayne’s plane at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. He was a passenger on that plane, which made a stop in Florida on its way to California.
At the time … Wayne’s attorney, Howard Srebnick, had said his client was “cleared” to leave even though g*ns and dr*gs were reportedly found on the plane. It appears now the feds believe Wayne was wrongfully in possession of unlawful equipment and ammunition.
Srebnick tells TMZ … Carter was cha-rged for possessing a gold-plated handg*n in his luggage back in December. The lawyer says, “There is no all-egation that he ever f!red it, brandished it, used it or thre-atened to use it. There is no alle-gation that he is a da-ngerous person.”
He added, “The cha-rge is that because he was conv!cted of a fel-ony in the past, he is proh!bited from possessing a f!rearm.” Wayne’s scheduled to appear in court next month.
