Trailer Park Tenants Received A Wa-rning Note From Landlord: ‘If Joe Biden Wins He Will Raise Their Rents’ – VIDEO

A group of trailer park tenants in Fort Morgan, Colorado, are a-ngry over a letter they received from their landlord that they insist essentially encourages residents to vote for Donald Trump for president.

The letter, dated October 19, thre-atens an extreme doubling of the rent if Joe Biden wins the presidency while promising no rent increases for two years if Trump wins.

The letter, acquired by 9NEWS, emphatically stated, ‘IF the current President is re-elected, WE WILL NOT RAISE THE RENT FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS!’

One of the key lines reads, ‘Voting is your choice and we are not telling you how to vote. We are just informing our tenants what WE will do according to the election results.’

To some, that sounds like an effort to influence tenants to vote for Trump rather than Biden, which can be viewed as a form of voter suppression. The Colorado Secretary of State’s office – responsible for the running of the election in the state – received a complaint and forwarded it along to the state’s Attorney General, Democrat Phil Weiser.

‘How could someone say something like that or basically thre-aten us according to something that we can’t control?’ said Cindy Marquez, a tenant of Ed Pagel’s Trailer Park. The letter was signed by Bernie Pagel, the landlord of the trailer park.

In the letter, Pagel insists that the rent increases will be necessary under Biden, as the prices of taxes, utilities, and even groceries would rise under a Biden administration. Those cla!ms appear to be unfounded. It’s not clear what a doubling of the rent would look like for tenants of Ed Pagel’s Trailer Park.

Silver Spur Campground, an RV park also located in Fort Morgan that caters to local utility workers, advertises rent prices between $625 and $650 a month. For Marquez, whose family has lived in the trailer park for two decades, the da-mage of a significant rent increase could be deva-stating. ‘Our family lives paycheck to paycheck and right now we just make things out with what we get,’ she said.
